Cookie Policy

Last updated: April 10, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Subtitle Translator (“we”) uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit or use our websites and services. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.

1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. We also use similar technologies such as local storage where noted.

2. Cookies we use

  • Essential / authentication (NextAuth): Session cookies required to keep you signed in and secure your account. These are typically HttpOnly and first-party.
  • Anonymous session (guest projects): We may set an HttpOnly cookie (for example,subtitle_anon_id) so guests can access projects created without an account in the same browser. It is not used for cross-site advertising.
  • Preferences / UI: We may store non-essential preferences in local storage (for example, dismissing a notice). You can clear these via browser settings.
  • Analytics (if enabled): If we enable analytics or advertising pixels in the future, we will update this policy and, where required, obtain consent before non-essential cookies are set.

3. Third-party cookies

When you choose “Sign in with Google,” Google may set cookies as part of the OAuth flow, governed by Google’s policies. AI processing occurs server-side; it does not require us to place third-party AI cookies in your browser for core features.

4. Managing cookies

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may prevent sign-in or guest project access. For more information, see your browser’s help documentation.

5. Do Not Track

There is no consistent industry standard for DNT signals. We do not respond to DNT browser signals in a uniform way today.
