Terms of Service

Last updated: April 10, 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Subtitle Translator’s websites, applications, and services (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

Subtitle Translator provides tools to process subtitles and audio (and potentially video in the future), including transcription, translation, editing, and export. Features and availability may change.

2. Eligibility & accounts

You must provide accurate registration information and safeguard your credentials. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any law or regulation, or infringe others’ rights.
  • Upload, process, or distribute content you do not have the right to use—including copyrighted films, shows, or other media where you lack a license or legal exception.
  • Generate or facilitate harassment, fraud, malware distribution, non-consensual intimate imagery, child sexual abuse material, or other harmful content.
  • Attempt to probe, disrupt, or bypass our security or rate limits.
  • Resell or scrape the Service in violation of our technical or contractual restrictions.

4. Your content & intellectual property

You retain ownership of content you upload, subject to licenses below. To the extent AI outputs are generated from your inputs, we intend that you own your outputs for your own lawful uses, subject to third-party rights in your source materials and applicable law. We do not claim copyright in your uploads or your exported subtitles/transcripts solely because they were processed through the Service.

You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, process, transmit, and display your content solely to operate, secure, and improve the Service for you.

5. AI outputs & disclaimer

AI-generated transcripts and translations may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate. You are responsible for reviewing outputs before publication or reliance. The Service is not legal, medical, or professional advice. Use outputs at your own risk.

6. Third-party services

We use third-party AI and infrastructure providers. Their terms may apply to your use of underlying models. See our Privacy Policy.

7. Subscriptions, billing & refunds

Paid plans, if offered, are described at checkout and on our pricing page. Fees, taxes, renewal, and cancellation terms apply as stated at purchase. For refund rules, see our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

8. DMCA & copyright complaints

We respect intellectual property rights. Our DMCA Policy describes how to submit notices of alleged infringement.

9. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT, TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.

10. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SUBTITLE TRANSLATOR AND ITS SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100), EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

11. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify Subtitle Translator against claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of others’ rights.

12. Governing law & venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, excluding conflict-of-law rules. Subject to applicable law, you and we consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of state and federal courts located in Santa Clara County, California.

13. Changes

We may modify these Terms. If changes are material, we will provide notice as appropriate (for example, by email or in-product notice). Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
