SRT vs VTT vs TXT — which do you need?
- SRT (.srt) — The most common subtitle format. Works with most video players and editors (and uploads to YouTube).
- VTT (.vtt) — WebVTT — the format required for HTML5 video and most web players.
- TXT (.txt) — Plain transcript with the timestamps stripped out — handy for reading, captions, or feeding to other tools.
