Split Subtitles

Cut a subtitle file into two at a chosen time — the second part is re-timed from zero so it lines up with the second half of a split video.

100% in your browser — your files never leave your device.

How to split a subtitle file

  1. Step 1

    Add your subtitles

Paste your SRT or VTT, or upload the file.

  2. Step 2

    Choose the split point

Enter the time (mm:ss) where the second part should begin.

  3. Step 3

    Split & download

Click Split — you get two files; the second is rebased to start near zero.

When to use this

  • Split a full-movie subtitle into CD1 / CD2 to match a video that's in two parts.
  • Cut a long file at an episode or chapter boundary.
  • The second part's timecodes are rebased so it syncs to part 2 on its own.

FAQ

How do I split an SRT file?

Enter the timestamp where the second part starts. Cues before it go into part 1; cues after it form part 2, re-timed to begin near zero so it syncs to the second video.

Does the second part keep the original times?

No — it's rebased to start near zero, which is what you want when the second video starts from the beginning. Use Shift Subtitles if you'd rather keep absolute times.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Splitting runs entirely in your browser.

Need to translate your subtitles too?

Fixing timing and merging is free here. When you need to translate subtitles into another language with the timeline kept perfectly aligned, that's what SubtitleFlow does.
